Who We Are
The Collegiate Esports Network, often referred to as the CEN, is a national assortment of colleges and universities committed to promoting the good of esports through charitable events. They are led by a group of current and former college students, all under 25, who have participated in esports throughout their collegiate careers. We work on a voluntary basis to connect esports programs with charities through a grass-roots approach, often connecting directly with the students instead of the universities themselves. This allows us to be more engaged with the community and generate feedback about what the students actually want, increasing the health of collegiate esports.
Regions of the CEN
The CEN supports events across the United States and Canada, with the US broken down into specific regions.
What does the CEN believe?
At our core, we believe that esports and video games are some of the best ways for students to connect with one another. While often video games are seen as abstracting interaction away from the players due to the remoteness of it, we find that this abstraction actually allows students to foster more relationships as it removes the social anxiety and pressure from face-to-face interactions.
Furthermore, esports often increases the face-to-face interaction between students as facility practices or events like ours encourage students to gather together and interact. Because of this, the CEN is committed to lowering the cost of esports events and always putting the students first, with profits second.
